In order to access your Google @ JESD email on your Mac or Windows computer, you will need to use your web browser (such as Google Chrome) to navigate to gmail.com.
Creating a Gmail app shortcut in your Mac's dock
You can create an app shortcut in your Mac's dock that will allow you to check your Google @ JESD email without having a web browser open. This app shortcut can show you notifications on your desktop similar to the Apple Mail app or Outlook.
To create a Gmail app shortcut in your Mac's dock like the one shown above,
- Open the Safari application
- Navigate to gmail.com and log in using your Google @ JESD credentials
- Once in Gmail, click on the File menu at the top of the screen, then click Add to Dock...
- In the resulting "Add to Dock" window, click Add
Creating a Gmail app shortcut on your PC's desktop
You can create an app shortcut on your PC taskbar that will allow you to check your Google @ JESD email without having a web browser open. This app shortcut can show you notifications on your desktop similar to the Windows Mail app or Outlook.
To create a Gmail app shortcut in your PC's taskbar like the one shown above,
- Open the Google Chrome application
- Navigate to gmail.com and log in using your Google @ JESD credentials
- Once in Gmail, click on the
button in the top right of the Chrome window, go to Save and share, then click Install page as app..., as shown below:
- In the resulting "Install this page as an app" window, click Install
- You will then be asked if you'd like to pin Gmail to your taskbar, as shown below.
Click Yes, and you'll now see the Gmail app on your taskbar.
